If you have any problems, feel free to report them. I didn't finished the game yet with this page but it should be okay, as it was produced from the original french cd-roms. You need to point to the "Tex Murphy 3" directory, not the "TEX3" inside it, or else, you'll end with a ".\Tex Murphy 3\TEX3\TEX3" directory and it won't overwrite the required files.

If you change it, be careful to double check the directory before installing it. You need to change and give the correct directory if your game is located elsewhere. The patch have an installer and will try, by default, to install itself into "Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Tex Murphy 3\TEX3".

If you need more info about how to use ths id, check the similar "The Pandora Directive" thread here : Sendspace id for the patch is : cvrxz0 (if the id is dead, post here, I suscribed to the thread, and I will recreate a new one). So I won't do a patch for GOG version as their french version is working fine (german version is broken, though), just did one for the Steam version. But in fact, it got changed in french for a unknown reason, played the game to get all the hints and the size suspect in french is "2m00-2m09" then the computer works fine). It appears the GOG french version works (german version is broken, though) but even them couldn't answer to my problem originally, but I found out the problem when I received the original disk and when the problem was still here (in us, the height of the suspect is "6"0-6"4" and converted to french, it give "1m80-1m89", both options are on the same line so it seemed logical to use it. All I know now is there is something installed on my PC that is causing this problem that wasn't there before and I have no idea what it could be.Finally managed to get a working french patch. The only way I can click on any object is by guessing.īack in the day, all of these programs worked in XP for me. Part of the screen is inaccessible and there is a dual cursor blinking problem in the 3D interface. Overseer in 98 will run, and the mouse cursor problem will disappear, but Overseer hates running in a window. I tried this program with Spycraft and Overseer in XP but no go. After some digging, I found out I could run a program called D3DWindower to run Fallout in a window. I go to play it and.yep you guessed it, same black screen cursor artifacting problem. Similar problem to Overseer in 98.Īnd did work on this setup a while ago. It worked fine in November with the exact same hardware.but now.it does not. The compilation includes 3 games from the Tex Murphy series: Under a Killing Moon. The Ultimate Detective: Tex Murphy Adventures Box Set. I've seen other older Windows games that have a similar issue: they're fullscreen, and the screen goes black and I can only paint the latest video with my cursor. This game is part of The Ultimate Detective: Tex Murphy Adventures Box Set re-released in 2015 by Big Finish Games. Hmmm.where have I seen this problem before. So even in Windows 98, Overseer doesn't work properly on my PC. I can literally paint the newest video on the screen with my mouse cursor. Overseer loads fine in 98 without any changes to lockvideo=-1 in the tex.ini, but what happens is I get a blank screen and the mouse cursor is the only video that is current while the rest of the screen constantly freezes up. I installed Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 with Windows 98 OSR2 on my PC. I have a Geforce 8800GT card with the latest drivers. I have a hunch that the problem is the mouse cursor and the cause is likely my video card driver. Misslilo, I tried all those options but to no effect. I've tried all compatibility modes and disabled hyperthreading for the application.Īgain, lockvideo HAS to be set to 1 or else the game will not run. I've tried messing with my video card settings. I've tried the CD version with the exact same results. I've tried the different MIDI settings, including mute. I can even hear Tex's opening clip about him going to tell Chelsea about his office. But as soon as I click the left mouse button again, and it doesn't matter where, it could be anywhere on the screen, the pointer of the mouse usually shifts slightly and the game crashes.Īll movies and previous dialog options with Chelsea on the phone work flawlessly. When I left click on a context item, I can right click anywhere on the screen or even hit ESC to exit out of the context menu. I can left click on the three menus on the left, right, and top of the screen and manipulate them fine. I can right click and move around Tex's office.

Does anyone have any idea what part of the system could be failing with this problem?
